Calgary's-National-Music-CentreThe following project might just be as close as we get to living the glamourous lives of rock stars: We are providing advice on the ongoing restoration of the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio, which will be one of the iconic center points in the National Music Centre’s new 160,000 square foot museum building when it opens in the heart of Calgary’s East village in 2016.

Building upon our work with the National Music Centre (NMC) in Calgary after the Alberta floods of 2013 (you can read more about that here), we have been working closely with the NMC on a number of initiatives to ensure the stability of the NMC’s collections. In collaboration with Eaton-West Construction and Remedy Engineering, and with the support of the Alberta Museums Association and the Calgary foundation, we’ve been advising on the design and construction of a climate controlled storage vault at the NMC’s off-site storage facility. The vault will house the NMC’s reserve of keyboard instruments and substantial holdings of electronic parts and components that support the electronic instruments and recording equipment collections.
